As Design and Construct contractor, Hurst Constructions QLD delivered the staged refurbishment of Harvey Norman’s Townsville retail showrooms while the store remained open and trading.
The works included new showroom layouts across the technology, home appliances, furniture and bedding departments, together with major services upgrades, roof replacement, façade improvements, internal alterations and associated building works. Modular hoarding, temporary protection and controlled access were used to safely separate construction activities from customers and staff, with each stage carefully coordinated around day-to-day store operations. Completed in 2026, the project builds on Hurst’s long-standing relationship with Harvey Norman following delivery of the retailer’s 10,000m² Townsville warehouse expansion in 2024. The delivery of both projects demonstrates Hurst’s capability to manage complex construction works within live retail environments while maintaining safe customer access and minimising disruption to trade.
